Root canal therapy, also known as endodontic treatment, is a dental procedure used to remove infected or damaged tissue from inside a tooth. The treatment is necessary when the pulp, which contains nerves and blood vessels, becomes infected or inflamed due to decay, injury or other factors.

During the procedure, our dentist will numb the area around the tooth and make a small opening in the top of the tooth to access the pulp. We will then remove the infected or damaged tissue and clean the root canals thoroughly. Afterward, we will fill the space with a rubber-like material and seal the tooth with a filling or crown.

The benefits of root canal therapy include saving a damaged or infected tooth from extraction, relieving pain and discomfort caused by infection or inflammation, and restoring the tooth’s functionality and appearance. Without treatment, the infection can spread to surrounding tissues, leading to abscesses, bone loss and other serious complications.

Root canal therapy is a relatively simple and painless procedure that can be completed in one or two visits to the dentist. While some people may experience mild discomfort or sensitivity afterward, these symptoms typically subside within a few days. With proper care, a tooth that has undergone root canal therapy can last a lifetime.
